Taurus and Ursa Major Cubs at 6th Lichfield Scouts
Taking on braver challenges — discovering what you can do!
Becoming more independent, solving problems and putting skills into practice.
Cubs is for young people aged 8–10½ who want to explore, discover new things and take on exciting challenges. From outdoor adventures to learning practical skills, there’s always something new to try!
We meet on Mondays & Thursdays, 18:30–20:00.
What do Cubs get up to?
Every week brings a new adventure! Our Cub Pack gets stuck into exciting activities, explores the great outdoors and learns by giving things a go.
Cubs go camping, build dens, hike, climb, canoe and even try activities like abseiling and air rifle shooting. They also learn practical skills such as cooking, fire lighting, map reading and first aid.
Through games, teamwork and challenges, Cubs build confidence, develop leadership skills and make friendships that last. They also join District events, competitions and activities, meeting other Cubs and taking on challenges together
Meet our Cub Leaders
Our amazing team of trained volunteers plans and runs our weekly programme, helping every Cub feel safe, supported and included. Our leaders use special names inspired by The Jungle Book, continuing a tradition from the early days of Cub Scouting. They’re supported by Young Leaders who bring energy and enthusiasm to our adventures.

Be part of the adventure! Could you help make a difference?
Our volunteers help make all this possible, and there’s a role for everyone. You don’t need to have been a Scout, know how to put up a tent or be an outdoor expert. Whether you can help at meetings, share a skill, support a camp or lend a hand behind the scenes, every contribution makes a difference.

Badges and Awards
Being a Cub is all about trying new things, growing in confidence and celebrating achievements. From their first badge onwards, Cubs can work towards activity badges and challenge awards at their own pace.
Challenge awards encourage Cubs to step outside their comfort zone, learn new skills and make a difference in their community. Cubs can also work towards the Chief Scout’s Silver Award, the highest award in Cub Scouting.
Cub Uniform
Once your child has settled in and started earning badges, they’ll need their Cub Scout uniform to show them off! Our famous red and white group neckerchief is worn with pride by our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and leaders.

Everyone’s welcome here! We want every young person to enjoy their Scouting adventure. If you have questions about accessibility or additional support, get in touch. We’ll work with you to help your child take part and get the most out of their time with us.
